Experience a new way of relating to yourself and the world around you in a collaborative and affirming therapeutic environment

Your goals for therapy will guide everything we do.

Our work begins with me getting to know you, what is important to you, and what you want to accomplish in therapy. From there we will work to make your goals a reality. We will identify the emotions and challenges you are experiencing and begin to understand not only why patterns of thoughts and behaviors are happening, but also how to change the ones that are not working for you.

Individual therapy

I specialize in working with adults suffering from the following:

  • Relationship issues

  • Chronic medical conditions

  • Life transitions

  • Anxiety disorders, including panic disorder, social phobia, and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder

  • Trauma related conditions, including complex PTSD and dissociation

  • Personality disorders

  • Autism spectrum disorders (adults only)

  • End of life

  • Military sexual trauma

  • Civilian readjustment

Couples Therapy

My primary therapeutic approach to working with couples is Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT). EFT is a short term approach (8-20) sessions which uses our understanding of attachment and bonding to address core issues that disrupt adult romantic relationships. Areas of focus:

  • Improving communication

  • How to have healthy conflict as a team, not adversaries

  • Identifying and expressing underlying emotional needs

  • Increasing understanding and empathy

  • Healing from infidelity

  • Strengthening trust

The effectiveness of EFT is underscored by decades of research, with 70-75% of couples moving from distress to recovery and approximately 90% reporting significant improvements in their relationship.

Veterans

If you suffer from depression, panic attacks, uncontrollable worry, stress from traumatic experiences, relationship problems, or difficulty transitioning to civilian life, I will work with you in a way that appreciates your unique history and circumstances. My therapeutic approach integrates my understanding of the military and veteran cultures with years of experience using a range of therapeutic modalities to treat varied clinical issues including combat trauma, military sexual trauma and moral injury issues.

Covid 19 Practices

I am currently seeing clients based on their needs and preferences.  While many clients are receiving services via a telehealth teleconference or by phone, some have expressed a preference for in person sessions.

For clients who would like to be seen in person, please be advised that I have recently acquired a new office with an outside area where we can be seated 6 feet or more apart. I ask that clients schedule in person sessions only if they are feeling well, have not recently been exposed and are taking all recommended precautions per CDC guidelines.

My schedule will be adjusted so that no-one will need to wait in the waiting area or be exposed to others in the clinic. I will disinfect the area before and after each session and provide hand sanitizer.  Since facial expressions are critical to the therapeutic process, I will not wear a face mask during our sessions, and I hope you will feel comfortable enough in an outdoor setting to remove yours as well, but I will accommodate whatever feels safe for you.
